Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Operations Engineer to oversee the day-to-day operations of our biogas plant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and optimizing plant processes to ensure safe, efficient, and environmentally sound production. This role includes monitoring equipment, troubleshooting system malfunctions, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The Operations Engineer will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive improvements in operational efficiency and plant performance.
Key Responsibilities

Plant Operations & Monitoring: Oversee the continuous operation of the biogas plant, including feedstock input, anaerobic digestion processes, and gas collection. Monitor control systems and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and immediate response to any alarms or irregularities.

Maintenance & Repairs: Conduct regular preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment, such as pumps, valves, engines, and gas processing systems. Ensure timely repairs of faulty equipment to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of critical assets.

Process Optimization: Analyze plant data, such as gas yield, energy efficiency, and waste output, to identify areas for improvement. Propose and implement process modifications or upgrades that enhance the efficiency, productivity, and environmental sustainability of plant operations.

Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues that may impact plant performance. Collaborate with technical teams to address complex problems and ensure seamless plant operation.

Compliance & Safety: Ensure that all plant activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations related to environmental protection, safety, and health standards. Maintain proper documentation for audits, inspections, and reporting purposes.

Team Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with maintenance teams, technicians, and external contractors to coordinate repairs, installations, or upgrades. Communicate operational updates and performance metrics to senior management and relevant stakeholders.

Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to operational emergencies, including equipment failures or gas leaks, by implementing established emergency procedures and ensuring the safety of all personnel.

Sustainability & Environmental Stewardship: Play an active role in minimizing the plant’s environmental impact by reducing waste, improving energy recovery, and optimizing biogas production processes.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in plant operations, maintenance, or a similar industrial environment, preferably in the renewable energy or waste management sector.
- Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of plant equipment such as pumps, valves, and electrical systems. Familiarity with biogas or anaerobic digestion processes is a plus.
- Problem-Solving Ability: Strong troubleshooting skills to assist in diagnosing operational or mechanical issues.
- Data Management: Experience in collecting, analyzing, and reporting operational data. Proficiency in MS Office or similar data management software.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and prepare reports.
- Safety Focused: Understanding of safety protocols and standards in an industrial setting.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a team and coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
